Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel Chairs a High Level Meeting about Water Scarcity in Kutch

The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel, organised a high level meeting to address the issue of low water supply in Kutch due to less rainfall in the region. Smt. Anandiben Patel has ensured that excessive water is supplied to Kutch to ensure supply of drinking water in the region in advance itself.

In order to ensure that the people and animals of the region receive ample and regular supply of drinking water, Smt. Anandiben as organised for 182 tubewells to be implemented. Out of those 109 have been completed and to more effectively use these, using water gravity 36 km long pipelines have been implemented from Bhachau to Varshamedi to bring in larger quantities of water. These details were discussed in the meeting at length.

Water Supply Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani and MoS Shri Jayeshbhai Radadia, as well as Secretaries from the Narmada Nigam, and the Water Supply Department and Principal Secretary to the CM were present at the meeting.

The Chief Minister ensured that the prime focus is on ensuring that all the villages get timely and uninterrupted supply of water.

It was informed in the meeting that the department has intensively planned to increase 1250 MLD pumping to 1500 MLD in Navda-Malia in Saurashtra-Kutch.

Three major regions of Kutch, namely Abdasa, Lakhpat and Rapar have received lesser that 50% of the predicted rainfall due to which the animals and people of the regions are foreseen to face certain deficit of drinking water. To this end latest technology and machinery will be installed and implemented in the regions.

Smt. Anandiben Patel gave guidance regarding the water distribution processes and wholesome progress of the state in light of water supply and its impact on the lives of the citizens.
