Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today described the ongoing unique ‘jal-mati-abhishek' of Mahatma Mandir in the state capital with ‘kalash' filled with soil and water of all the 18,000 villages and 169 towns of the state are the two symbolic foundations of a strong Gujarat.

Sarpanchs of nearly 2,100 villages brought ‘kalash' today.

Participating in the event on the third day of the 14-day abhishek, he said the people's participation in the year of the state's golden jubilee reminds one of the ‘jan shakti' Mahatma Gandhi had mustered during the salt satyagrah in 1930. Nobody had an inkling of the strength of people's power.

The Chief Minister asked the sarpanchs to implement the various village uplift programmes like Jyoti-Gram, Samras-Gam, Nirmal-Gam, Teerth-Gram, E-Gram and Vishwa-Gram.

Prominent among others present on the occasion included Revenue and Women's Welfare Minister Smt Anandiben Patel and other Ministers, senior officers and people's representatives.
