Gujarat CM appeals farmers to take advantage of the modern technologies showcased at KrishiMahotsav at Junagadh

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel attended KrishiMahotsav organized at Junagadh Krishi University with a view to make farmers enlighten about latest scientific research and modern agro technology.

CM Smt Patel stated that the new research and technology in the field of agriculture has changed the traditional method of farming and also changed the age-old mentality which has resulted into better crop yield. She appealed farmers to interact with Agriculture Universities and scientistsas well as to take advantage of various farmer-centric schemes of the state government.In her speech, she gave credit to Shri Narendra Modi for initiating KrishiMahotsav in 2003 which has brought agricultural revolution in the state.

Talking about the role of science in the field of agriculture field, CM Smt Patel said that the results of agro research should reach the field. Talking about the climate change and importance of water, CM Smt Patel talked about state’s water conservation initiatives in the last decade considering the impact of global warming on agriculture.She slammed Congress for not doing anything for rainwater harvesting or conservation in 30 years of their reign. She also shared that the Narmada water to be released tomorrow will greatly help ease the scarcity of water in Saurashtra region.

In her speech, CM Smt Patel shared that the compensation for accidental death of farmers has been increased from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh. She also made forest dwellers aware that the state government has decided to give compensation on the basis of SDRF onlyin case of death of human or animal caused by lion attack.In an important announcement, she said that the state government, by paying Rs.3.16 crore to the forest department, is going to allot 100 sq.mtr. plots to the people residing in Ness in Gir forest.She said that LokSamvadSetu program has been successful in brining long pending issues of the people to the notice of the government and helped resolving them promptly.

CM Smt Patel also highlighted the benefit of state-of-the-art Perishable Cargo Unit recently inaugurated at Ahmedabad Airport, which will help farmers exporting their produce. She also informed about loan uptoRs. 3 lakh offered to farmers at mere 1% interest. Talking about the health initiatives undertaken by the state government, she appealed people to take benefit of free screening and treatment.

CM Smt Patel wished a grand success to this KrishiMela and also congratulated all the award winning farmers for their innovations which she said will be greatly helpful to other farmers.She assured farmers of Gujarat that the State Government will leave no stone unturned to strengthen the agriculture field and thus improve their quality of life.

On this occasion, Agriculture Minister Shri BabubhaiBokhiria, State Minister SmtVasuben Trivedi, Junagadh Mayor Shri JitubhaiHirpara, MLAs, Junagadh Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. A. R. Pathak, other government officials and dignitaries, farmers and people in large numbers remained present.
