Ahmedabad, Friday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will himself lead Team Gujarat to cover select 32,772 primary schools in all the 18,000 villages, 151 municipalities and eight municipal corporations during the 9th Kanya Kelavni Yatra (Girls' Education) and Shala Praveshotsav Abhiyan (School Enrollment Movement) They will be held in two phases from June 16 to 18 in rural areas and from June 23 to 24, 2011 in urban areas.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi will himself lead Team Gujarat. Others include the entire Council of Ministers and all Secretaries, besides other officers and people's representatives. The Gujarat Team to be divided into small groups of five, as each group will fan out to entire state, visiting five schools daily during the six-day movement.

The twin movements which entered the seventh year have already started paying dividends in the form of higher enrollment, greater spread of education among girl child and qualitative improvement, as per the comparative figures of Census 2001 and 2011 reports.

Speaking at the state-level preview meeting, Mr. Narendra Modi said the most heartening aspect of the twin movements is the people's all round support, down to the village level, replacing the complacency with awareness and positive action. The movements' other positive aspect is taking care of the school children's healthcare as well.

Education Minister Ramanlal Vora listed the new features on the movements this year. Principal Education Secretary Hasmukh Adhia made the introductory remarks and Primary Education Secretary R.P. Gupta gave the details of the programmes.
