Gujarat CM Gives Placement Order to Trainee Candidate under DUGKY in Ahmedabad

Guj CM Smt Patel handed over appointment letters to trainees under Deendayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DUGKY) in a function jointly organized by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Ltd. (GLPL) and Project Implementation Agencies at Tagore Hall in Ahmedabad, today.

It is worth mentioning here that under the Deendayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana, 4796 candidates have already been provided employment by February 2016. Employment opportunities have been provided in the organized sector to poor, rural- youth and women through necessary skill development training and by NCVT/GCVT certification. Under the DU-GKY scheme, 50% coverage for socially disadvantaged SC/ST groups and 15% for minority has been made mandatory. Under this initiative, 1 lakh youth have been given employment every year and 1.5 – 1.75 lakh have been provided training.

Talking about ensuring food supply to even the poorest person of the state, CM Smt. Patel announced that the government will provide poor families with 5kgs of grain per person per month. Wheat will be provided at the rate of Rs. 2/kg and rice at Rs. 3/kg. She ensured that under this initiative 75% population of the state will be covered through ration cards. She laid importance on earning money through hard work and assured that the state government will provide all help possible to enable the poor to earn livelihood. She announced that the government will provide 1 lakh families with cattle and instead of paying 12% interest rate on loans; citizens would only have to pay 5% interest rate while the remaining 7% will be paid by the government. She also explained about the Garib kaliyan Melas organized by the government and the free equipment provided to workmen who cannot afford it on their own.

CM Smt. Patel urged citizens to take benefits of health schemes introduced by the government like the MA Vatsalya Card which was introduced for middle class families with a yearly income of Rs 1,20,000. MA Vatsalya card has a limit of Rs 2 lakh and beneficiaries can avail the treatment at private hospitals. She also informed about benefits of government welfare schemes like MA Yojana under which BPL families get MA card with a limit of Rs 2 lakh and by using this card poor families can avail the treatment in private hospitals listed by government.

Talking about providing education to all, CM Smt. Patel said that the government provides free uniforms and books in government schools to primary level students. She also said that just because of lack of facilities, girls shouldn’t be exempted from education and as a result the government has decided to provide cycles to girls free of cost so that they can use it for commuting to schools. She also expressed her pride and happiness that till today almost 40-45 lakh women have joined Sakhi Mandals and have successfully dealt with business worth Rs. 1700 crore. Moreover, she was extremely glad that statistics show that out of all the loans taken up by enterprising women of the state, 99.9% loans have been fulfilled.

Stressing on the need to make life easier for disabled people, she announced that the government has decided that certificate of disability won’t have to be renewed every 5 years from now on as it will be granted on a life time basis. Moreover, bus passes will also be handed out to disabled citizens on a lifelong basis to make their life better.
