Guj CM inaugurates 66th Van Mahotsav at Navsari, organized to motivate people for forest conservation

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandien Patel inaugurated cultural forest ‘Janki Van’ at Bhinar village in Navsari district today as part of 66th state-level ‘Van Mahotsav’.

CM Smt Patel shared that it is believed that Lord Ram and Sita Mata had lived here, thus ‘Janki Van’ has been developed sprawling over 15 hectors based on ‘Ramayana’ theme. She stated that with Interpretation Center, Nari Shakti Mural, Unai Mural, Valmiki Ashram, Bal Vatika and symbolic Laxman Jhula, this ‘Janki Van’ will definitely emerge as a tourist attraction in South Gujarat. She also informed about various organically grown plants and explained the importance of trees and forests in our lives. She expressed her confidence that the tradition of celebrating ‘Van Mahotsav’ will surely create enthusiasm among people for forest conservation and tree plantation.

She shared that in a first-of-its-kind, ‘Janki Van’ will also have ‘Tribal Haat’ that will help tribals to earn a living by selling various products, including nutritious food products, made by Self Help Groups.

On this occasion, CM Smt Patel declared that now the state government will give financial assistance for more than one farm equipments to registered farmers. She also shared that the state government is going to declare an important policy to provide all the agriculture related benefits offered by the state government to the chartered forest farmers in near future. She also emphasized on organic farming.

CM Smt Patel proudly mentioned about the adoption of 165 malnourished children of Navsari district by the officials under the guidance of district collector and appealed to the Sarpanchs, Sakhi Mandal women and social leaders to take up the project of making Navsari free from malnutrition. She also felicitated donors who provided school uniforms on this occasion. She also suggested to make eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesh and appreciated the project initiated by the women of Ganadevi taluka. CM Smt Patel handed over cheques to the tribal members of Vyara Sugar Factory as assistance from the state government.

On sidelines of Van Mahotsav, CM Smt Patel dedicated various works worth Rs. 3 crores at Unai temple that will enhance pilgrimage experience of people visiting this holy place. She stated that the state government is aiming to develop faith based tourism in Gujarat.

Forest Minister Shri Mangubhai Patel, State Forest Minister Shri Bachubhai Khabad, MP Shri K. C. Patel, MLAs, Principal Secretary of Forest Department Shri Punamchand Parmar, senior officials of the state forest department, district collector and people in large number remained present on this occasion.
