Gujarat CM Visits and Reviews the Status of Relief Measures Being Undertaken at Suigam Village in Banaskantha

Gujarat CM Smt. Anandiben Patel while on her visit to Banaskantha District also visited ongoing scarcity-relief work and reviewed the progress of the deepening of lake at Korati as well as the construction of check dam by visiting those places.

CM Smt. Patel inquired on the spot about the problems faced by the workers working on the deepening of Korati Lake and also asked about the wages-amenities being provided to them.

A Check dam is being constructed at Suigam village under the MGNREGA initiative, which would provide nearby farmers with ample water for irrigation. The state government has undertaken many works of constructing check damns, weirs, and the deepening of lakes which has increased the irrigation area in the region to a large extent. CM Smt. Patel informed that the government is committed to resolving the problems of people and to stand beside them in difficult circumstances like these. The government has taken many steps to provide adequate water, fodder and meet the work requirement in drought affected regions.

CM Smt. Patel further informed that water and fodder are being provided in drought affected regions and adequate drinking water is being provided by sending water tankers in regions which are facing acute shortage. Water for animals is also being provided in villages so that they don’t have to face any difficulties because of the heat.

CM Smt. Patel proudly announced the commencement of Arts and Commerce College at Suigam Taluka headquarters from the month of June.

In a review meeting concerning the situation of the drought-affected regions at the Suigam Circuit House, CM Smt. Patel instructed officials to take adequate measures to ensure that Banaskantha District doesn’t face scarcity of water.

CM Smt. Patel informed that Gujarat’s situation is much better than that of other states of the nation and the credit goes to the alertness of our people. She also inquired about the water situation of 1234 villages of the state and gave necessary instructions to officials based on the information.

Adequate fodder for cattle is being provided by 17 grass depots in 58 drought affected villages of the state. CM Smt. Patel reviewed the ongoing works under the MGNREGA initiative and also the amenities being provided to the workers. In the previous year, works worth Rs. 40 crore equaling 16 lakh human days was successfully completed under the MNREGA initiative.

On the occasion, Chief Principal Secretary Shri K. kailashnathan, district officials as well as various functionaries remained present.
