Gujarat CM Smt Anandiben Patel reviews heavy rains situation in the state

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel held a review meeting today in Gandhinagar in relation to heavy rains in various parts of the state. Gujarat has already received 87 percent of its average annual rainfall, out of which, 8 percent has been witnessed only in last 24 hours. CM Smt. Patel reviewed the details of the rainfall till date and the forecast of very heavy rainfall in various parts of Gujarat.

During this review meeting, attended by Finance and Health minister Shri Nitin Patel, Chief Secretary Dr Varesh Sinha and other senior officials and presided over by CM Smt. Patel, discussions on current situations of road and building, water flow of dams, amount of water released from dams, supply of electricity were made.

CM Smt. Patel said that three teams of NDRF (National Disaster Response Fund) have been put on alert and rescue boats have been deployed to deal with the flood-like situations in Vadodara. CM Smt. Patel asked the administration to streamline supply of electricity and road conditions across the state beforehand. Also, 240 health teams are already active to prevent situations of epidemic outbreak and ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the state, she added.

Reviewing the roads in the state, CM Smt. Patel said that total 27 roads in the state are affected because of rains, and asked the administration to work for its repair as soon as the rains end.

In this review meeting, Smt. Patel also expressed grief over the flood affected Jammu and Kashmir and the loss of lives and properties in the state. She announced to extend an aid of Rs 5 crores to J&K CM’s relief fund. Also, she said that daily 1 lakh food packets will be airlifted and sent out to the people of J&K. Smt. Patel said that circuit houses of Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot will be made functional to ensure the packing and sending of these food packages.
