Mobilizing Jan Shakti across Gujarat on 1st International Yoga Day

Gujarat CM Smt. Anandiben Patel attended state-level grand celebration of the first International Day of Yoga today morning at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad and performed Yogasanas with thousands of people who zealously participated in the event. Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat Shri O. P. Kohli was also present on the occasion.

In a message the Chief Minister said that Yoga, a holistic approach to live happy and healthy life, is an Indian legacy which now the entire world has recognized. She stated that it is a matter of pride for all of us that the vision articulated by our PM Shri Narendrabhai Modi has been warmly welcomed across the globe and even the UN immediately agreed to adopt the India-led resolution of declaring this day as International Day of Yoga. She called this as a step ahead towards making our country ‘Vishwa Guru’.

It is to be noted that about 75,000 people participated at GMDC ground and about 1.25 crore people across the state participated in the grand celebration of World Yoga Day. The CM congratulated the people of all class and religion who enthusiastically participated in mass Yoga sessions across the state. She appealed to continue practising Yoga on daily basis and create awareness on its benefits. She also told to carry forward our heritage together and spread positivity all around and create a happy and healthy society.

Chief Secretary Shri G. R. Aloria, Secretary of Sports, Youth & Cultural Activities Department Shri Manish Bhardwaj, Ahmedabad Mayor Smt. Meenakshiben Patel also remained present on this occasion.
