Gujarat CM Flags off the Construction of Somanth-Bhavnagar 4 Lane National Highway

In the presence of Guj CM Smt. Anandiben Patel, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India Shri Nitin Gadkari flagged off the construction of the 256 Km long 4 lane National highway joining Somnath with Bhavnagar. The highway will greatly improve the travel of the millions of devotees who visit Somnath each year.

CM Smt. Patel clearly said that the Gujarat government had asked for the permission for the highway from the previous UPA government many times, but continuing the trend of injustice towards Gujarat, they had rejected the plea, thus causing distress to the millions of devotees who visit Somnath.

CM Smt. Patel also said that the UPA government had constantly stalled various projects related to Gujarat to hamper its development, but under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi, the NDA government has effectively and transparently implemented various projects connecting various highways and tourist places in Gujarat. So, it has now become clear to the people that BJP government would lead the state to more development.

CM Smt. Patel informed that to strengthen village roads and make them a crucial part of the development journey of the state, the government has allocated 10 thousand crore rupees for developing village roads in the current year’s budget under the Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

CM Smt. Patel added that PM Shri Narendra Modi is highly concerned about the overall development of Gujarat in various fields like education, healthcare, road network, housing etc. As a result, he allocates ample funds to Gujarat from various Central Government Schemes. Due to such projects focusing on the development of infrastructure in the state, a new global direction for progress has opened up which would lead Gujarat to higher heights of development.

This 256 km long, 4-lane project is being undertaken by the National Highway Authority Of India and will be completed in 2 years at a cost of Rs. 4876 crore. This project will connect the various tourist and religious destinations around Somnath in a single link, thus facilitating easier and convenient travel for the millions of tourists visiting these places from and out of the country. The whole tourism circuit including Diu, Dwarka, Somnath, Palitana, and Porbandar will be connected after the completion of this highway.

Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Shri Nitin Gadkari proudly announced that the central government has given its approval for the 130 km long Somnath, Porbandar, Dwarka coastal highway at a cost of Rs.3 thousand crores. Moreover, he added that out of the 5152 km long national highway network of Gujarat, 1830 km is managed by the National Highway Authority of India. He also said that the government is considering declaring 675 km of state highway of Gujarat as national highways.

Considering the comfort and convenience of travelers-tourists who come to visit Dwarka and Bet Dwarka, Shri Nitin Gadkari gave approval to and announced the construction of a bridge connecting Okha and Bet Dwarka at the cost of Rs. 490 crore.

He also announced that in the coming 3 years, the central government will allocate 2 lakh crore rupees for developing the road and port infrastructure of the state.

On the occasion, Minister of state for agriculture Shri Jashabhai Barad, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Jethabhai Solanki, MP Shri Rajeshbhai Chudasma, MP from Amreli Shri Naranbhai Kachhadia, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Chunibhai Gohel, and Collector Dr. Ajaykumar, various MLAs, MPs and citizens of Gir-Somnath remained present in large numbers.
