Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during his interactive session with industrialists and investors from Karnataka at Bangalore today invited them to take part in the fifth edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit (VGGIS) in January 2011. He had held similar meeting at Mumbai and Chennai earlier.

The industrialists too, impressed by the fast track Gujarat model of development, evinced keen interest to participate in the mega event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi said that delegate from nearly 80 countries are expected to take part in VGGIS this time, as against 47 countries during the last summit.

Talking about the Gujarat model, Mr. Modi said, it is about public delivery system to grievances redressal system through public-private partnership. He said the Gujarat initiative as global investment promotion event started in 2003 has over the years emerged as a truly global business promotion and knowledge networking platform. A stable government, proactive governance, pragmatic policies and friendly environment, added to it zero level man-days loss with no labour problem and power cuts have also their contribution.

Replying to queries by industrialists, he pointed out that Gujarat has traveled far from the age of traditional Industrial Estate era to Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to Special Investment Region (SIR) and GIFT Financial City, new Port series and urban eco-city concepts.

Mr. Modi said Gujarat now proposes to evolved a special package for the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector with zero defect manufacturing and best packaging by common ‘Made in Gujarat' brand, with stress on skilled manpower development and skill up-gradation network..

Not to neglect physical infrastructure, he said, emphasis is also laid on urban planning with provision for clean and green living.

Others present on the occasion included Chief Minister A.K. Joti, Principal Industries Secretary Maheshwar Sahu, and Murigesh Nirani from Karnataka.
