Gujarat CM chairs meeting with department heads of State board for Wild life

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel chaired a high level meeting with department heads of Gujarat State Board for Wildlife at Gandhinagar today.

She guided officials of forest department to work aggressively on holistic development of state’s eco-sensitive zone with a focus on generating local employment opportunities and economic advancement of the zone.

During the meeting, she stated that forest department should monitor activities such as vermicompost plant, cotton seed production, Sakhi Mandals of tribal forest zones, providing tribal youth with economic support for agriculture work like nursery plug and development of tribal forest areas. She also added that department should work in close coordination with other departments and share information extensively.

The forest department authorities were asked to start a campaign and take immediate protective measures against the misconception and propaganda about eco-sensitive zone that is being spread among the inhabitants of the forest zone. Department was even asked to list down activities that can be taken up for local development of forest zone in 1 acre land area for road constructions and financial planning for building necessary bridges and pipelines.

In regards to Green Energy Corridor, other issues deliberated upon included integration of electronic transmission line in areas of Kutch and Banaskantha, planting optical fiber cable in forest area of 6.249 km of Narayan Sarovar area of Kutch district and widening roads of Junagadh to Damodar Kund.

For wildlife protection, CM Smt Patel advised forest department to move wildlife animals living in forest areas to a safe place during monsoon. She guided the department to adhere to the deadlines set for railway line fencing ward project and finish the work in 4 months. She asked the department to work in result oriented manner for projects approved by the Central Government and National board of Wild life, and other projects like Girnar Ropeway and Sultanpur Godhuli Marg.
