Gujarat CM Expresses Her Commitment to Make Gujarat a Slum-free State at Nikol in Ahmedabad

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Ananandiben Patel allotted 820 affordable houses with all the necessary amenities and beautiful surroundings in Nikol area of Ahmedabad this evening.

On this occasion, CM Smt Patel said that to meet with the rapid urbanization in Gujarat, which is the reflection of development in the state, the state government is committed towards smart urban development. Having one’s own home is the dream of every human being and moving towards achieving goal of ‘Housing for All’, the state government has taken up the project of building houses for urban poor.

In her speech, CM Smt Patel accused Congress for neglecting the major issue of slums and stated that they overlooked at the living condition of the slum-dwellers. She stated that the BJP, immediately after coming into power, started working for the cause of poor. Not only affordable houses, but roads, water supply, drainage, schools, colleges, hospitals have been improved, she added. She said that the state government is committed to improve the living standard of the poor and this housing scheme is a step forward towards realizing the dream of Slum Free Gujarat. She shared that about 5 lakh new affordable houses will be built in next one year across Gujarat. The state government’s aim is to eliminate the economical inequality from the society, she said.

CM Smt Patel appealed people to work hard to eradicate poverty from life. She also advised to root out superstitious beliefs and take benefits of various welfare and health schemes of the government. She advised to rely on medicines instead of wrong rituals to treat children suffering from fever. She also explained about the social, economical and health related problems associated with alcohol abuse and requested them to stay away from addictions like smoking, chewing tobacco or consumption of liquor. She also told to abolish the old tradition of child-marriage, which is also prohibited by law. While wishing the beneficiaries for happy and healthy life in their new homes, she also appealed to keep the surrounding clean and green.

Alongside, CM Smt Patel dedicated three Water Distribution Stations, two in Nikol and one in Maktampura areas respectively. She stated that these new Water Distribution Stations will improve water supply in the areas and will also help reduce ground water consumption. She also appealed everybody to value water to secure our future. Earlier, she conducted site visit and reviewed the work of ongoing Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, which is on the fast-track and gave necessary instructions to the concerned officers.

On this occasion, Minister of State for Urban Housing Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Gautambhai Shah, MLAs, Chairmen of various AMC committees, AMC officials, other dignitaries, beneficiaries and people in large number remained present.
