Gujarat CM visits Haihe Education Park at Tianjin, expresses wish to collaborate for enhancing skill development framework in the State

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel on Saturday visited the Haihe Education Park at Tianjin and interacted with the Vice Mayor of Tianjin, Ms. Cao Xiaohong, in-charge of Education.

The Haihe Education Park is situated on the southern bank of the middle reach of Haihe River and will eventually cover 37 square kilometres when fully developed. Upon its completion, it will house 58 thousand students and 40 thousand residents. Public libraries, training centres, executive centres and other public facilities are under future development here. Ms. Xiaohong briefed the Chief Minister about the Education Park. Drawing parallels between Tianjin and Gujarat’s rapid development, she said that both face the challenge of skilled manpower.

The Chief Minister also spoke about her deep interest in the field of education and how it is closest to her heart. She expressed her desire to collaborate with the Education Park in the skill development sector. She said that hundreds of students in India who dropout after 9th and 10th standard can be trained through skill development programmes to overcome the challenge of skilled manpower shortage.

Vice Mayor had also expressed her willingness towards the possibilities of tie-ups in the sector of skill development. The Vice Mayor also informed the CM about the types of scholarships that Haihe Education Park provides for skill-based training. Smt. Patel further suggested that Gujarat and Tianjin together can organize teachers exchange program. Smt. Patel had a detailed tour of the educational park and appreciated the overall concept.

After returning from Tianjin, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Patel attended a reception hosted by the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chancery. She addressed the Indian community and apprised them of the new large projects coming up in Gujarat. The Chief Minister expressed her confidence that Gujarat would continue its development with the cooperation of all and would reach even greater goals of overall human development.
