Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi visited the site of ‘Sabarmati Riverfront Development project' today. Undertaking a comprehensive review of the ambitious project continuously for two hours, he literally took a round and visited different sites.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has taken up ‘Riverfront development project', which is estimated to cost Rs.1182 Crores. Visionary planning aims to cover 21 K.M.s of area, which is being developed under the project. Chief Minister is consistently providing inspiring insights for realizing the goals of the project.
Revenue Minister and In-Charge Minister of Ahmedabad district, Smt Anandiben Patel, Urban Development Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel, Mayor Shri Kanaji Thakor, Chairman-Standing Committee Shri Asit Vora, and Municipal Commissioner Shri I.P.Gautam also joined the Chief Minister. Taking a round from Subhash Bridge to Sardar Bridge, Chief Minister sought minute details about the various developmental aspects of the project. He observed the works of Walk-Way and Diaphragm-Wall. He went near the earth filling sites; retaining wall also came under the observation.
Chief Minister offered some of the valuable insights to preserve and promote the culture and environment of Ahmedabad city. He underlined the need to maintain the rich cultural legacy of Ahmedabad, particularly the historic monuments, Bhadra Kali Fort, Tran-Darwaja, and the Haveli culture of the city .He also emphasized the need to keep the river free of pollutants. He discussed all the aspects of environment at depth. He also gave necessary directives to them about the Vasana-Sewage diversion.
The Riverfront project has imbibed unique Engineering-Skills. It is also providing a prominent example of capacity building .He instructed officials to prepare a detail presentation, featuring the elements of engineering-excellence and capacity-building. The presentation would definitely help training the engineering students about the various technological aspects of River Front Project.
Chief Minister offered meaningful guidance about rehabilitation of the slum dwellers. The ambitious project is going to emerge as a shimmering landmark in a true sense .Riverfront project visualizes floating-restaurants, gardens, water-ways, water-sports, and many new exciting avenues of entertainment .He placed special emphasis on citizen centric planning of development.
He gave a passionate call to inspire dignitaries of various sectors for taking a lead of tree-plantation drives. Tree saplings would be planted on both the sides of walk-way.
Tree-saplings may be planted to mark the remembrance of any special occasion, added C.M.
Where ever it is possible, walk-ways would be made open for the citizens. Chief Minister issued a public appeal to join in the massive plantation drive.
The ambitious Riverfront Development project has under taken development works to the tune of Rs. 702 Crores, out of that Rs. 587 Crores are already spent on the project. Recently HUDCO has sanctioned loan of Rs. 350 Crores.
