“Sadbhavna Mission is to give momentum to people’s movement, it’s an answer to people’s curiosity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari”

“Mission is not driven by politics, but to provide a policy to nation”
—Narendra Modi

Ahmedabad, Monday: Ending his three-day fast to mark the Sadbhavna Mission at the Gujarat University Convention Centre here this evening, Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced his decision to hold a day’s fast in each district to give momentum to the Mission as a people’s movement.

He was offered the lime juice by heads of different religious groups and sects present at the venue. Shri Bhaiyuji Maharaj and others on behalf of the societal strength blessed him.

Mr. Modi said that Gujarat’s development and good governance have already demonstrated the State’s strengths to the world. The huge public support the Sadbhavna Mission received would tell the world’s the mission’s strength. It was just a beginning. It needs to be given momentum. He said that there is a huge curiosity as to what is so great about Sadbhavna Mission.

He said that people are unhappy with whatever is happening in India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Everybody is suffering, but there is none to kindle any ray of hope. People were waiting for somebody to show a way out. I am an aficionado of people’s opinion. I understanding people’s aspirations and know their sufferings, because I have spent my life in the service of the people. I have joined public service with a dream. My entire self belongs to the people. One can get answer only if one rises above politics.

The Chief Minister said that Sadbhavna Mission is not driven by any politics, but to provide a policy to nation. The root of problem in this country is that none can dream big. It should be then backed by a political will to serve the dreams of 120-crore people. The need is to translate the dream into action.

He said that six-crore people of Gujarat are not a number for him, but a mantra for development. He said that he devoted his life in the service of six-crore and with their experience the dream can be achieved here.

Referring to Sachar Committee report, Mr. Modi said, it was constituted by the Central Government which asked him what had been done for the minorities, to which his answer was that his government works for all citizens alike, not for minorities, not for the majority. His government did not weigh once community against another. Gujarat has shown that it is not interested in the politics of vote bank, unlike many others. This simple mantra is taking the entire state to new heights.

Growth can be made consistent only with people’s participation in development process. Whenever there is a meeting of national planning commission, they always want to know about Gujarat’s new initiatives with people’s participation. By participation of its people in the development process, Gujarat has reached to such heights, he said.

“During my fast I prayed for an atmosphere of peace, unity and brotherhood in my state. Those who want to look into Gujarat’s model of growth I would ask them to look into it through the values which are inbuilt in Sadbhavna Mission,” he said.

“Test of leadership is in the actions. Had we taken the path of vote-bank politics, Gujarat would have been ruined by now. But we took six crore Gujarati people in the process of growth and created miracles with the same government functionaries and systems,” said Mr. Modi.

“In democracy, people’s will is supreme. If people will animate for making progress, the nation is bound to become powerful. Gujarat has already demonstrated the power of growth and good-governance and now with Sadbhavna Mission it is going to show the world the power of peace, unity and brotherhood. I commit myself in actualizing this goal,” said Chief Minister.

Chief Minister announced that he will go to each district of Gujarat for one day and will observe fast on that day, with a view to take the message of Sadbhavna Mission to every household of Gujarat.
