Gujarat CM stresses on bridging the gap between police and society while presenting Police Medals to the police officals at Karai

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel presented medals to the police officials for their outstanding performance in the august presence of Governor of Gujarat Shri O. P. Kohli this evening at Gujarat Police Academy at Karai near Gandhinagar.

Lauding the services of Gujarat Police, CM Smt Patel said that our police force is the most efficient and well-equipped to deal with any difficult situation. She also said that the credit for the peaceful atmosphere in the state goes to our police force. She told to earn increased trust and respect among the people for the police. She also asked to work in the direction of bridging the gap between police and the society by public outreach programs like Suraksha Setu and giving a human face to the police. She also talked about ‘Abhayam-181’ initiative of Gujarat Government to stop violence against women. She also shared that about 5,40,000 women have been given self-defense training by now. She expressed her happiness over the success of Student Police Cadet, a school-based youth development program to inculcate respect for law, discipline, civic sense and resistance to social evils with a motto of ‘Learn to Serve’ and proudly shared that about 1,13,000 children have enrolled as SPC cadets in the state. Talking about 33% quota for women in government services including police force, she stated that Gujarat has set an example and nowadays more and more women are joining the police force.

CM Smt Patel stated that ours is the youngest and the most techno-savvy police force. She praised the state-of-the-art police training centers with modern waffle range, gymnasium, swimming pool, computer lab, etc. to make the force more professional and shared that the state government has planned a 100-hour training module for all the cadres of police force. Stressing on the digitization of police records, she informed about Integrated Mobile Investigation Vans deployed at 10 places in the state and ‘PINAC’, a crime-detection software developed by Ahmedabad Police. She also shared that Gujarat has initiated the idea of Raksha Shakti University, Forensic Science University and National Law University to modernize our police force and to strengthen the roots of policing. She also proudly shared that Gujarat is going to establish a Marine Academy near Jamnagar and National Level Archery Range at Chhota Udaipur in Gujarat. She told that 22 well-equipped marine police stations are established with the help of Central Government for enhanced protection of our coastline. She also praised the mounted police force of the state, which is the biggest with 500 horses and has won highest medals in the country. She informed about various budgetary provisions for police modernization, facilities and to make ‘Smart Police Stations’. Referring to the exemplary work of Bhavnagar Police of adopting over 500 malnourished children, she urged to take up such humanitarian works which will improve the image of police in the society. Talking about the importance of training on Yoga and Stress Management, she said that these may help reduce stress and other health risks. She also appealed to take benefit of free health check-up and treatment drive for diabetes, blood pressure, cancer for police personnel and their families.

CM Smt Patel congratulated all the 117 police personnel who have been awarded Police Medals for their distinguished and meritorious services, which reflects their dedication, commitment, competence and self-less service towards the society.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Minister of State for Home Shri Rajnikant Patel, Chief Secretary Shri G. R. Aloria, Addl. Chief Secretary Shri P. K. Taneja, DGP Shri P. C. Thakur, senior police officers and other dignitaries besides family members of the officers.
