Gujarat CM Instructs Officials to Immediately Supply Adequate Water for People as Well as Livestock Population During Her Visit to Kutch

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel, after participating in Krishi Mahotsav at Junagadh, reached Kutch to assess the situation of cattle fodder and water supply in scarcity-hit villages of the region.

CM Smt Patel visited Gaushala and Panjarapole run by Narayan Sarovar trust in Lakhpat taluka to review facilities put in place for cattle-wealth. She stated that the prime focus of the state government is to ensure sufficient and regular water supply as well as fodder in scarcity-hit areas.

CM Smt Patel illustrated development works worth Rs. 200 crores carried out in Abdasa and Lakhpat taluka and expressed government’s desire to fill Narayan Sarovar with Narmada water in near future. The Gaushala, awarded as the best Gaushala of the state and presently takes care of 1288 cattle, has been provided Rs.49.77 lakh assistance by the state government by now in this year.

It is to be mentioned that so far 17 fodder depots for relief to cattle have been opened and 3078 grass cards have also been distributed by the state government in Lakhpat taluka. Out of 9.63 lakh kg grass brought from Valsad, about 2.46 lakh kg grass have already been distributed at Rs. 2 per kg only in this taluka and 7.17 lakh kg grass is still available. 282 grass cards have been issued for fodder depot located at Narayan Sarovar, where 25,000 kg grass stock is available. It is also to be noted that last year also highest 62 lakh kg grass were distributed in drought-hit areas here and currently also 80% of the total grass stock is used for Kutch region. This is an exemplary relief initiative of the state government.

CM Smt Patel also conducted a high level meeting with district officials to address the issue and instructed them to immediately supply adequate water for people as well as livestock population. She also directed them to expedite ongoing projects of water conservation so that maximum amount of water can be stored during the upcoming monsoon. She also instructed to supply water through tankers where there is no other source of water.

During her visit to Kutch, CM Smt Patel also offered prayers to Koteshwar Mahadev for good monsoon this year.

State Minister Shri Tarachand Chheda, MP Shri Vinodbhai Chavda, Chief Principal Secretary to CM Shri K. Kailashnathan, Collector Shri C. J. Patel, IG Shri A. K. Patel, President of District Panchayat, MLAs, Trustees, Koteshwar Mahant Shri Dinesh Giri, Shri Anand Lalji Maharaj of Narayan Sarovar and others remained present on this occasion.
