Gujarat CM reviews the situation of Gujarati pilgrims who have gone for Amarnath yatra in a high-level meeting

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel today convened a review meeting with Chief Principal Secretary Shri K. Kailashnathan, Relief Commissioner Shri Manish Bhardwaj and other officials in Gandhinagar regarding the situation of about 4547 Amarnath pilgrims from Gujarat including the BJP MLA from Rajula Shri Hirabhai Solanki who are stranded in Jammu & Kashmir following violence in the valley.

CM Smt. Patel spoke to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over phone, and urged him to ensure safety of all the Amarnath pilgrims from the state who are stranded in Jammu & Kashmir.

CM Smt. Patel also sought help of the Army for bringing back the pilgrims from Pahalgam-Baltal to Jammu. She directed officials to contact Additional Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Shri P. K. Mishra, to ensure food and lodging facilities for the stranded pilgrims.

The Security Forces have arranged the pilgrims’ comfortable stay at Srinagar and Jammu. Efforts are on to get the pilgrims’ contact number through the Gujarat Government’s Resident Commissioner in New Delhi.

CM Smt. Patel also called for safe passage of the pilgrims returning from the Yatra from Pahalgam and Baltal up to Jammu with full security protection.
