Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s largest car manufacturer, announced that it is setting up its next car manufacturing plant in Gujarat. Vikram Samvat 2068 has begun on a good note for Gujarat.

Suzuki Motor Corporation Chairman Osamu Suzuki and Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava had met Chief Minister Narendra Modi and showed their interest in investing in Gujarat. Following the Board meeting, Maruti Suzuki had granted approval to purchase land in Mehsana for further expansion of manufacturing unit.

The Government welcomes Maruti Suzuki's decision and as per sources says, the government have earmarked 500 acres of land near Bechraji in Mehsana District for the project. The company requires around 500 - 600 acre land for the plant, and a further 500 acre for vendors. It is estimated that the Company would invest Rs.18,000 crore in the State with further Rs.6000 crore investment to build infrastructure and vendor park.

The automobile Industry of Gujarat started with Tata Motors, followed by Ford and Peugeot. Now, as Maruti Suzuki comes to Gujarat, the state is moving ahead fast as Asia's Auto Hub. The pace will accelerate further as more Auto companies eye for Gujarat.
