GoG signs MoU with Australia’s New South Wales Govt for mutual cooperation in various fields

In the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel, Australia’s New South Wales’ Premier Mr. Mike Braid and its Trade & Investment Minister Mr Andrew Robb here today. Gujarat and Australia’s New South Wales’ Governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in various fields including education, skill development, sustainable urban development, clean technology and water security.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Smt Patel expressed confidence that the MoU will enhance possibility for bilateral relationships, trade, and investments for the better future for both.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Atanu Chakroborty, Principal Secretary (Industry) of Gujarat Government, and Mr. Blair Combell of Australia’s New South Wales’ Government, for their respective governments.

The objective of this MoU is to inspire the students and experts from both the sides to make research works and higher studies in various sectors.

For skill development, a center of excellence sports management and training centre would be set up by Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) and Australia’s University of Wollongong. In the MoU, a special emphasis has been given for planning and designing of the new cities under the sustainable urban development and encouraging green buildings in Gujarat. For water security, exchange of Australian expertise – best practices in water management and water distribution in Gujarat will be done. And for clean technology the possibilities of partnership for recycling of waste products would be incarnated.

Before signing this MoU, the Australian high level delegation arranged a brief meeting with the Chief Minister and lauded Gujarat’s development in industrial, social and educational sectors.

On this occasion Chief Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Kailashnathan, Secretary Mr. Ajay Bhadu and Principal Secretary (Industry) and Senior Secretaries were present.
