‘Society and Government together can bring positive change in the lives of specially-abled people’: Gujarat CM on the inauguration of ‘Anand Dham’

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel inaugurated residential complex for mentally challenged children ‘Anand Dham’, developed by Aastha Charitable Trust at Adroda on Bavla-Nal Sarovar Road near Ahmedabad.

On this occasion, CM Smt Patel said that this unique ‘Home’ is an inspirational effort for taking complete care, making them self-reliant and generating confidence in these God’s own children. She praised the homely atmosphere of the hostel that will provide these children an opportunity to mingle with each others. I hope that such unified living technique will inspire them to lead a normal life, she added. She stated that the state government has always been sensitive about the welfare activities of such specially-abled children, however the society is strong by itself and this Sankul is an ideal example for others to emulate. She congratulated all the trustees, especially Dr. Manseta and Rajendrabhai, for their exemplary initiative.

In her speech, CM Smt Patel expressed her concerned over preventing mental or physical birth defects. She added that there are many simple things that one can do prevent birth defects and have a healthy child. She further stated that outcomes of the studies in this field are meaningless without proper execution for the creation of a healthy society.

CM Smt Patel said that she got inspired by coming here and assured provisions for many such welfare schemes for the disabled people in the next budget. She said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction for all of us that many people are now voluntarily coming forward for the benefit of the society.

CM Smt Patel mentioned about ‘Bal Gokulam’ an ultra modern centre set-up by the state government for the lesser privileged kids at Vadodara and said that more such centers are required to be developed with public-private partnership for the rehabilitation of orphan or abandoned children. It is wrong to keep such innocent kids in remand homes, all they need is love and compassion, she added.

CM Smt Patel, in her speech, stated that it is a myth that children with disability lack talent. They are not disabled, they are differently able, she stated. She said that impressed by the confidence and interest of the handicap children, a category of specially-abled children is now introduced in Khel Mahakumbh.

CM Smt Patel suggested trustees of Anand Dham to contact nearby companies to get financial help under their CSR with the help of Collector and DDO. She also told that she will have a joint meeting of concerned government departments and such charitable organizations to prepare a project for the welfare and benefit of such physically and mentally challenged children.

On this occasion, CMD of Harsha Engineers Ltd. and President of Aastha Shri Rajendrabhai Shah, Trustees of Aastha Charitable Trust, MD of Nirma Ltd. Shri Hirenbhai Patel, District Collector, DDO, social leaders, other eminent personalities and beneficiaries of Anand Dham remained present.
