Amdavad: Friday: Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi unveiled equestrian Statue of Maharana Pratap at Shahibaug today. “Our ancestors gave supreme sacrifices. They had given what ever they had, expected nothing in return. It must be borne in our mind, all the times, to live for our nation. We must be fully alive, and vigilant towards the elements who are working on to uproot our cultural inheritance, “said C.M.

Recalling the braveness and gallantry of Rana Pratap and his horse- Chetak, Chief Minister mentioned that Chetak's mother belonged to Kathiyawadi breed. Gujarat takes pride about it.

Paying rich and glowing tributes to Maharana Pratap and Chhatrapati Shivaji, Chief Minister said, “Their contribution is enormous. Tyrants would have ravaged our culture. But, they defended our motherland, safeguarded our culture, when Moguls attacked us. They laid down their lives for the cause of motherland. “

Their contribution is recorded in the history with golden letters. Chief Minister recalled the massacre in Vijaynagar-Forests of Sabarkantha Districts, fighting against British, in which several hundreds of Bhils- Tribes- gave supreme sacrifices, perhaps bigger than Jalianvala-Baug massacre. Efforts were made to brush out the martyrdom. Present Government has built a monument, added C.M. “During freedom struggle, veer Savarkar and his family faced oppressive treatments and pains. Shyamjee Krushna Varma laid down his life .No one bothered to fulfil his last wish,” regretted Chief Minister. “After 73 years, we have built a monument at Mandavi in his memory,” he added.

Member of the Assembly, Shri Bharatbhai Barot preferred dwelt upon respect to Maharana Pratap, - symbol of dedication and sacrifice, Maharana Pratap is the fountain of inspiration to all. Amdavad Mayor, Shri Kanajee Thakor termed Maharana Pratap as a revolutionary ruler of Hindu Rashtra.

N.G.Os and local leaders gave contributions of Rs. 5, 03,111/ towards the C.M's Kanya Kelavani Nidhi.

Shirohi Rajasthani Samaj presented the gold studded sword to Chief Minister.

Deputy Mayor Dr. Kalpanaben Bhatt, M.P. Dr. Kiritbhai Solanki, Chairman of AUDA Shri Dharmendrabhai Shah, M.L.A s Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja and Shri Geetaben Patel, Shri Sudhakarbhai Shah, Standing Committee Chairman Shri Asitbhai Vora, eminent leaders, corporators were among the others who attended the function.
