CM addressed a historic congregation of 1.5+ lakh women engaged in cattle-rearing

Role of farmers and cattle-rearers in progress of the state and the country is very significant, said Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel while addressing a huge gathering of women at Mahila Pashupalak Prashikshan Sammelan at Palanpur, Banaskantha. CM Smt Patel connected to more than 1.5 lakh women cattle-rearers at 17 other locations across the state through BISEG.

This programme was organized by Banas Dairy as a massive awareness drive for thousands of women engaged in cattle-rearing on National Milk Day. In her address, CM Smt Patel encouraged the women to take cattle-rearing to new heights.

She said that apart from agriculture, cattle-rearing is a significant occupation since it provides a stable source of income to the families inspite of the uncertainties of monsoon.

Along with the health of cattle, women should also focus on the health of children and ensure that no child in Gujarat remains malnourished, she added. She said that some contribution of milk from dairies across Gujarat should reach to the children of anganwadis.

On the occasion, CM talked about various women-oriented initiatives taken by the state government. She urged the women present to take maximum benefits of initiatives like Mukhyamantri Maa Amrutam Yojana under which families with annual income less that Rs 1,20,000 and children of age upto 21 years are given free medical services. CM Smt Patel shared that the state government has introduced 33% reservation for women in government jobs, including police services. She encouraged the women to engage in various activities and contribute in generating income for the family.

Also, CM Smt Patel urged the women to join the campaign of building 100% in-house toilet facilities across the state and appealed them to contribute in the cause of Clean Gujarat, Clean India.

At the event, the chairman of Banas Dairy had dedicated a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to the state government for the cause of eradication of malnutrition from the state.
