Gujarat Chief Minister and P. A. Sangma celebrate Azad Hind Fauz foundation day

Gujarat will remember Subhash Chandra Bose for turning point in Indian politics at Haripura Congress in 1938 – Narendra Modi

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose deserves national memorial, and his mysterious death fresh investigation – P.A. Sangma

Ahmedabad, Friday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Congress has conveniently forgotten Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose but Gujarat will always remember him for bringing about the turning point in Indian politics by becoming Congress President at Haripura Session from the soil of Gujarat in 1938.

Speaking at a function to mark the foundation day of Indian National Army (INA) under the aegis of Azad Hind Fauz Trust in presence of Mr. P.A. Sangma, Mr. Modi said the present government at the Centre might forget illustrious sons of the soil like Sardar Patel and Netaji, but Gujarat would not.

He said that Gujarat's relation with Netaji is old. About 100 men and women, including M.R. Vyas, joined INA. In reverence to the great leader's clarion call for ‘Delhi Chalo' and ‘Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Mein Tumhe Azadi Dunga', Gujarat's e-Gram Vishwa Gram Yojna was also launched from Haripura near Surat on this historic day in 2009 with a call for ‘Tum Mujhe Saath Do, Mein Tumhe Vikas Dunga'.

Mr. Modi said that Netaji had a unique personality. He had shown his organizational skill and leadership qualities in India's freedom struggle through armed revolution from foreign land and had sacrificed his life in the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.

Referring to Dr Manmohan Singh's desperate attempt for Economic Reforms since the last 24 hours after the resignation of former Finance Minister, Mr. Modi questioned the wisdom of Prime Minister for his failure for reforms all these years.

Paying his tributes to the unsung heroes of INA, Mr. P.A. Sangma expressed strong resentment against the present government for showing disrespect to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He described it unfortunate that there is no national memorial of Netaji in India's capital in Delhi. He demanded fresh investigation into the circumstances under which Netaji reportedly died mysteriously.

Mr. Sangma had a word of praise for Mr. Modi for his leadership qualities and hailed Gujarat's initiative in recognizing and eulogizing the sacrifices of INA soldiers.

Earlier INA Trust Secretary Brig Chhinkara gave details of the Trust.

Prominent among those present at the function included Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ganpat Vasava, Ministers Anandiben Patel, Fakirbhai Vaghela, Mangubhai Patel, Jaswantsinh, BJP National General Secretary Anant Kumar and Arvind Netam.
