It is a defining moment in State's history, pursuing the vision of Swarnim Gujarat; Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon the doctors to take a pledge of offering best of their services to the citizens, with a deep sense of commitment and devotion, during the golden-jubilee year.; he was speaking after inaugurating the newly built Dental College in Maninagar today.

“Whatever Gujarat has given to us, time has come now to give it back to Gujarat, in the best interest of people of the State,” he added.

On inaugurating Dental College in Maninagar, Chief Minister named it ‘Swarnim Jayanti Dental College”. The project is taken up at the cost of Rs. 30 Crores; it embodies an Advance Dental College, Hospital and Hostel Complex. Previously, it was Old-Bhalakiya Mill.

Gujarat is making giant strides on various fronts, including public healthcare. Chief Minister outlined the immense development that has taken place in the healthcare sector. It has opened up fresh avenues for health-insurance in Gujarat and India.

He elaborated upon the multi pronged approach taken by State; Gujarat has given immense thrust to fulfill the need of doctors, in coming days. In past, three were only 60 schools at Taluka-Level, where science-stream learning facilities were available at higher-secondary stage. When there is no science-stream school at Taluka place, how a student can think of becoming doctor or engineer? He raised the crucial question. Situation has changed for better, new schools have opened up with science-stream, and quality medical education is available in Gujarat, seat capacity in engineering-medical faculty has seen multifold rise. Gone are the days, when the agents, who used to fix an admission in Medical faculty, charging huge amount from students. C.M claimed that such agents are compelled to close-down their shops now.

Under the visionary initiatives, Gujarat has made available the skilled manpower needed for medical faculty, who can teach at graduate and post graduate level, added C.M. He detailed various initiatives taken to bring about quality-changes in healthcare services.

With his unwavering commitment to offer best services to the less privileged and poor people, the 108 emergency services is launched in the State, that has benefited prompt-medical services as many as 11 lakh people, saving 50000 lives, facilitating 11000 deliveries ,saving lives of children and mothers, added C.M.

C.M outlined the theme and importance of Samay-Dan portal, which is launched by the State, under which youth are to devote 100 hours of their time for serviceable activities. Doctors would also give their valuable contribution.

Revenue Minister, Smt Anandiben Patel outlined the path-breaking efforts made by Gujarat, under which, Petroleum University, Forensic Science University, Teachers Training University, Raksha-Shakti University, Kamdhenu University has come in to existence, offering excellent learning facilities to students.

Mayor of Ahmedabad, Shri Kanajee Thakor, and Member of Parliament Dr Kirit Solanki also addressed the ceremony.

Deputy Mayor, Dr. Kalpanaben, Standing Committee Chairman Shri Asit Vora, Chairman -Tourism Corporation Shri Kamlesh Patel, Leader of the opposition in Corporation Shri Suresh Baxi, MLAs, office bearers, eminent leaders, scholars, and citizens in large numbers attended the inaugural function.
