Gujarat CM Lays Foundation Stone for Hareda Water Supply Yojana at Panchmahal

Guj CM Smt. Anandiben Patel laid the foundation stone for Panam-reservoir based Hareda Water Supply Yojana worth Rs. 137 Crore which will ensure drinking water supply to the region at Panchmahal, today. Under this initiative, 3.2 crore litres of drinking water will be supplied daily through a 638 km long pipeline network to 1.87 lakh people of 51 villages.

Many regions of Gujarat are considered dry regions and as a result there is acute shortage of drinking water and water for irrigation in these parts. Talking about supplying water to even the remotest regions of the state, CM Smt. Anandiben Patel informed people about various schemes implemented by the government for ensuring water supply in the state. Moreover, she announced that in this year’s budget the state government has allocated funds worth Rs. 3400 cr to develop the water infrastructure of the state. Out of that, Smt. Patel assured that 304 cr will be allocated in the current year itself to ensure drinking and irrigation water supply. Out of those 3400 crores, 1700 crore have been specifically allocated towards fulfilling the water needs of tribal regions of the state.

CM Smt. Patel also announced that a survey has been commissioned for ensuring adequate water supply in Dahod and Panchmahal and funds worth Rs. 750 crore have been provide for the same. She assured that the work will be started by June of this year and will be completed within a span of 1.5 years. Further, she informed that in the last 10-12 years, the BJP-led state government has accomplished a strong water distribution network of 1.25 lakh kms. Previously, 10% expense of implementation of village related schemes in tribal regions was borne by the people of villages, but now, the government has offered to pay that 10% for water related works to ensure adequate water supply. CM Smt Patel addressing the people gathered mentioned that during Congress’s regime (UPA) 1 crore and 88 lakh people received grains at subsidized rates – wheat at Rs 2 Kg and Rice at 3 Rs kg and from the time BJP government came in power in Gujarat, state government has disbursed wheat at 2Rs Kg and Rice at 3 Rs Kg and now the number of beneficiaries under MAA Annapurna Yojana has increased to 3 crore and 80 lakh people. Under this scheme 75% population of the state will be covered.

On the occasion of World Health Day Smt. Patel informed the people about the various health related schemes announced by the government like free screening and treatment of cancer for women, free lifelong treatment and diagnosis of diabetes, MA Vatsalya card for assistance in healthcare up to Rs. 2 lakh to families with income of Rs. 1,20,000 etc. Talking about the extent of implementation of these initiatives and schemes she said that of around 3 crore women in the state, 75 lakh have been screened for cancer and 1046 who were diagnosed with some form of cancer are availing free treatment. Moreover, over 4 lakh 63 thousand women in the Panchmahal district underwent screening and few who were diagnosed with cancer are also undergoing treatment. As for diabetes 2,75,252 people have been diagnosed in the state and are being given free medicines and treatment. In Pancmahal district, out of 1,47,000 screening, 7,700 people were found to have diabetes.

Talking about farmer welfare schemes and initiatives, she announced that the government will now provide loans up to Rs. 3 lakh at a minimal interest rate of 1%. Also, under the Pradhan Mantri Paak Bima Yojana, crops will be insured for all kinds of crop failure right from sowing of seeds till reaping of crops.

On this occasion, she also launched android-based Citizen Help Desk & Panchmahal tourism app developed by local admin to provide complete travel information.
