Hon. CM Smt. Anandiben Patel Attends ‘One Health’ Seminar at Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar

Hon. CM of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel today inaugurated ‘One Health’ technical seminar jointly organised by the Gujarat Veterinary Association, Dept. of Animal Husbandry and Gujarat Veterinary Council at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.

Explaining the ‘One Health’ concept, Smt. Anandiben said that it is a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment. She also stated that the health of human and animal is inextricably linked with ecosystem and added that such endeavours will help improve the lives of all species through the integration of human and veterinary health care as well as environmental science and will help us in creation of balanced and clean environment.

In her speech, Smt. Anandiben said that human life can only be sustained by protecting the life of animals and environment. She stated that order of the nature has been disturbed due to lack of awareness and ignorance. She warned the audience that our relationship with the nature is broken and that will create miserable living conditions for the generations to come and added that the sanctity of the natural resources must be maintained.

Hon. CM shared that we all must together work to monitor and control public health threats. She indicated that most human diseases are derived from animals and with the help of animal health care, we will be able to create happy and healthy environment for all. Smt. Anandiben also explained the importance of nutritious diet for children and mother and stated that how it will lay the foundation of healthy and malnutrition free society.

Smt. Patel took this opportunity to describe the intimate relationship between cattle and agriculturists and also gave a couple of emotional examples. She recalled her childhood days when people used to take great care of their cattle in terms of health and nutritive feed. She expressed her worries that now a days, we exploit the nature for our personal interests.

On this occasion, Hon. CM announced free medical treatment for animals and dedicated 17 mobile veterinary diagnostic & medical vans. She also explained the preventive steps taken by the state government in the field of animal health care and informed that 120 out of 150 animal diseases have been completely eradicated. She also proudly informed that Gujarat has been awarded as the first Polio Free State in the country. Hon. CM congratulated veterinary doctors for their excellent services and assured co-operation from the government. She stated that experts of this field should come forward and help government in making provisions for modern technology for advanced veterinary services. Hon. CM shared that the present experts’ guidelines on synergism of humans, animals and the environment must be implemented for creating better living conditions for all the existing species.

Hon. Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, Co-operation, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cow Breeding Shri Babubhai Bokhiria, Hon. Union MoS for Agriculture Shri Mohanbhai Kundariya and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Hon. MoS for Animal Husbandry Shri Purushottambhai Solanki, President of Veterinary Council of India Dr. Umesh Chandra Sharma and many other dignitaries remained present on this occasion.
