CM reaffirms state government’s commitment towards ‘Good governance through e-governance’

Government of Gujarat is committed to work towards ‘Good governance through e-governance’, initiated by then CM Shri Narendra Modi, said CM Smt Anandiben Patel. She was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 18th National conference on e-Governance at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar today.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Smt Patel congratulated Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and the government for their efforts towards realizing the dream of ‘Digital India’. During his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he initiated various e-governance schemes and Gujarat is moving ahead in the same direction, she added.

On the occasion, National awards for e-governance were also given away. ‘Suraksha Setu’ – Safe city Surat project received Gold award for innovative use of technology in e-governance. Industry department of Gujarat received a Silver award for e-procurement project in the category of incremental innovation in existing projects.

In her address, CM Smt Patel shared details of various initiatives taken by the state government towards facilitating e-governance, including e-gram, SWAGAT, SATCOM. She said that Gujarat is also moving ahead towards taking this to the next level through m-governance.

Talking about Gujarat’s performance in e-governance sector, she said that Gujarat Government has bagged as many as 174 National level awards in e-Governance during last 13 years in sectors like public services, hospital management, sarvashiksha abhiyaan, Gram Vikas and several others. Based on the recent information available on eTaal portal Gujarat is leading across India in reflecting e-Transactions. Under the State Government projects, the portal shows total 426 crore e-transactions and Gujarat is capturing nearly 27% of the total e-Transactions occurring across India.

Digital India, digital governance-new frontiers, e-governance leaders as change agents, accountable governance through social media and citizen engagement, skill development and employability, partnership with industry- new business model and service delivery, citizen services in a smart city – new paradigm, are the various subjects to be deliberated upon during the conference. The event has been organized by Government of India’s department of administrative reforms and public grievances, ministry of personal, department of electronics and information technology, and ministry of communications and technology.
