Guj CM encourages women to grow through Sakhi Mandals, extends financial assistance to underprivileged women

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel today extended financial assistance to women beneficiaries at a program organized by Gujarat Scheduled Caste Development Corporation. While the state is observing Women Empowerment Fortnight, assistance provided will open new self-employmeny opportunities for the women beneficiaries.

With the motive to encourage underprivileged women to work and earn, CM Smt Patel distributed cheques of over 8 crores to over 1590 women beneficiaries from across the state. Addressing the women present, CM Smt Patel shared success stories of various Sakhi Mandals (Self-Help Groups) of Gujarat who have been earning their livelihoods, resulting in better living conditions for themselves and their families. She said that Gujarat Government is committed in empowering more and more women by motivating them to form Sakhi Mandals. Even in small villages and tribal homes, women have been progressing with the success of Sakhi Mandals, she said. She informed that nearly 35 lakh women across Gujarat have been trained and made self-reliant through Self-help Groups.

On the occasion, CM Smt Patel also spoke about various government schemes initiated towards the welfare of the people. She shared details of the ongoing state-wide health camps organized by the state government and urged people to take maximum benefits at these camps. Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramanlal Vora was also present on the occasion.
