CM launches ‘Shramyogi Kalyan Mela’, hands over benefits of govt. schemes to unorganized labourers

On the birthday of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today launched ‘Shramyogi Kalayn Mela’ at Ahmedabad and handed over government assistance to unorganized labouerers of the state. Similar programme was organized at 20 districts of Gujarat.

The Chief Minister also launched Shramyogi Suvidha Web Portal, Labour Helpline and Labour & Skilled Employment (LSE) Atlas. In addition, a unique ‘U-Win’ card was also launched which incorporates all the welfare schemes for labourers. Smt. Patel also announced 27-30% increase in the Minimum Daily Wages for the labourers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the event from Varansi through video conferencing. He congratulated Gujarat Government for implementing various labour welfare schemes and opined that these schemes will show path to the nation in improving labourers’ lives.

Smt. Anandiben Patel spoke of the different schemes and programs at length that the state is implementing in order to empower the unorganised labourers. Smt. Anandiben spoke at length about the importance of the labourers in our society and added that she believes that unorganized labour should be registered in order to make available all the benefits to them.

It is the recruiters’ responsibility to ensure that labourers avail the benefits allocated to them, she added. She also presented the Rajya Shram Ratna Awards and handed over tools to labourers with to help them achieve more from their hardwork. The Chief Minister shared that any financial assistance that is due to citizens will be deposited directly into the recipient’s account to spare them from the hassle of visiting government offices.

Smt. Patel appealed to all labourers to ensure that their children get educated for their bright future. She said that the government is giving facilities, but it is important that these facilities are availed whole heartedly.

Union Labour & Employment Secretary Smt. Gauri Kumar, Chief Secretary Shri D. J. Pandian, Principal Secretary (Labour & Employment) Shri Sanjay Prasad, MP Shri Kiritbhai Solanki, Mayor Shri Meenaxiben Patel, MLAs and senior government officials also remained present on this occasion.
