Gandhinagar: Monday: Expressing his stern resolve to step up the battle against penury, Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi said that series of 50 Garib Kalyan Mela has ended, but not the fight against poverty.

Concluding the series of Garib Kalyan Mela at Limbadi Shri Narendra Modi said that poor have recognized the disrupting entities. Garib Kalyan Mela has ignited positive spark in poor and now the sensibility of the administration has touched them.

Chief Minister arranged State's 50th Garib Kalyan Mela at Limbadi today. Chief Minister and other Ministers handed over economic assistance worth Rs. 41.16 crore to about 32160 beneficiaries from Limbadi, Chuda, Sayala and Chotila regions. Two melas held for Surendranagar district empowered over 67525 beneficiaries with Rs 85 crore worth of aid.

Garib Kalyan Mela proved itself as a sure medicine against Epidemic of the exploitation of poor and worked as a bulldozer against mediators, Shri Modi said.

He said that communicating with 50 lakh poor of the State within a short period of 2 months is an unprecedented work and he is grateful that he has been conferred with such a fortune.

He outlined various pro-poor schemes deployed by the State Government and expressed his desire of entrusting Rs 5000 crore worth administration to Sakhi-Mandalas by 2014, in order to free rural women from unending interests and debts.

District In-Charge Education Minister Shri Ramanlal Vora said that as a part of Republic day celebration, welfare works over Rs. 1000 crore have been initiated in Surendranagar district. He also outlined various Abhiyans on qualitative education, taken up by Education Department of the State.

Forest Minister of State Shri Kiritsinhji Rana, Chief Whip Shri Pradipsinhji Jadeja also addressed the Mela.

Chaques summing Rs. 11 lakh 11 thousands were donated to Chief Minister's Kanya Kelavani Nidhi by various organizations.

Revenue Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel, Minister Shri Vasanbhai Ahir, Parliamentary Secretary Shri L.T.Rajani, Ex. Minister Shri I.K.Jadeja, MLA Smt.Varshaben Doshi, Shri Bharatbhai Khorani, Shri Shambhuprasad Tundiya, Maharashtra BJP leader Shri Kiritbhai Somaiya along with Nagarsevak Shri Manojbhai Kotak and Bharatbhai Parikh, district leaders, government office bearers and people in large number were present at the Mela.
