Gujarat CM lays foundation stone of Animal Husbandry Polytechnic at Nava Rajpur near Himmatnagar

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel laid foundation stone of Animal Husbandry Polytechnic, to be established at the cost of Rs. 38 crore in 79 hectare land under Kamdhenu University, at Nava Rajpur near Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district today.

In her address, CM Smt Patel shared that this upcoming polytechnic will be with hostel facilities, animal breeding farm, veterinary clinic, fodder farm, etc. She added that the polytechnic is being established with the aim to prepare livestock experts to provide primary veterinary services to the animal keepers in remote villages of the state. She also stated that as Animal Husbandry is the most accepted livelihood in Sabarkantha district, the latest researches in this field will be very useful to the people of this area.

CM Smt Patel stated that to maintain the health of the cattle, Pashu Arogya Mela are organized by the state government, which has proved like blessings and we are successful in eradicating about 150 diseases among the cattle. She also talked about a modern clinic to be established here to provide veterinary services.

CM Smt Patel mentioned about the first animal husbandry polytechnic under Kamdhenu University established at Mehtapura of Himmatnagar on 1st August, 2011. The diploma holders from this polytechnic can work as Animal Husbandry Consultant, Dairy Manager, Live Stock Inspector, etc. or can start his own dairy business. It is to be noted that the institute offers diploma program to the 10th pass students. The students are trained in the subjects of Animal Management, Animal Breeding, Animal Husbandry, etc. in 5 semesters and are given practical training at different institutes, veterinary polytechnics, veterinary hospitals, animal farms, etc.

It is important to note that the students of this polytechnic will be trained in Artificial Insemination also. This will also benefit more than 20,000 animal keepers of Co-operative Milk Societies of the state and will help in the overall development of the state.

On this occasion, Agriculture Minister Shri Babubhai Bokhiria, Ex-Minister Shri Prafulbhai Patel, Chairman of Sabar Dairy Shri Jethabhai Patel, Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department Smt Mona Khandhar, DDO, animal keepers and other people in large number remained present.
