14th Edition of Kanya Kelavani – Shala Praveshotsav Concludes with a Resounding Success

Under the visionary leadership of Guj CM Smt. Anandiben Patel, the 14th edition of the state-wide Kanya Kelavani – Shala Praveshotsav concluded with over 5 lakh 64 thousand 776 children given admission to the 1st standard.

In 1st standard, over 2 lakh 80 thousand 470 girls and 2 lakh 84 thousand 306 boys were enrolled in primary Schools. Under this initiative, over 2 lakh 82 thousand 186 children were admitted to Anganwadis for elementary education.

The 1st edition of the kanya kelvani – Shala praveshotsav took place in 2003-04 under the leadership of the then Chief Minister of the state Shri Narendra Modi with an aim of improving the quality of education and to ensure that not a single child in the state remains deprived of education.

In this edition of Kanya Kelavani – Shala Praveshotsav a new approach was adopted under the influence of CM Smt. Patel where Praveshotsavs for students entering 9th standard were also organized.

After passing 8th standard a total of over 6 lakh 16 thousand 899 students including 3 lakh 34 thousand 704 students and 2 lakh 82 thousand 195 girls got into 9th standard.

As a goodwill gesture, CM Smt. Patel herself prepared health-kits for the children getting admitted to Anganwadis. In addition to that, she also established a one of a kind ritual of gifting inspirational books to the libraries of primary and secondary schools.

She distributed the aforementioned kits and books to the schools of the villages that she visited during this initiative.

CM Smt. Anandiben Patel distributed the health-kits and toy-kits in 40 Anganwadis. With an aim of invoking patriotism and character-building, she gifted 25 inspirational books each to 20 school libraries. To promote excellence in education, CM Smt. Patel felicitated the 1st ranking students of class 3rd to 8th and gifted books to them at all the Praveshotsavs that she attended.

The total amounts of funds donated by social leaders-benefactors during this edition of Kanya kelavani – Shala praveshhotsav for improving the infrastructure of schools and for kanya kelavani is over 28 crore 4 lakh.

To encourage the education of girls living in the state and to assist them in their higher education, the state government gives vidyalaxmi bonds of Rs. 2 thousand to girls. In this edition also over 53,438 girls were given vidyalaxmi bonds amounting to Rs. 10 crore 68 lakh 76 thousand by the state government.
