Gujarat CM performs ‘Pahind Vidhi’ for the 3rd time at the start of Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad

Amid the devout atmosphere, Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel flagged-off 139th ‘Rath Yatra’ from Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad today early in the morning of Ashadhi Bij. She performed the ritual of ‘Pahind Vidhi’, a symbolic cleaning of the path for the chariot of Lord Jagannath with golden broom, for the third consecutive year.

Traditionally, Lord Jagannath, brother Balbhadra and sister Subhadraji move out in the city to meet the devotees in special chariots on this pious day. Lakhs of devotees and thousands of saints joined the large procession of Rath Yatra, which is the oldest and largest after Puri Rath Yatra.

On this occasion, CM Smt. Patel prayed for peace and unity in the state as well as happiness and prosperity of the people. She also wished for the blessings of Lord Jagannath in the form of rain.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Ministers Shri Pradeepsinh Jadeja and Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhry, Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Gautambhai Shah, Legislators, Municipal Corporators and many others. The Jagannath Temple priest Mahant Dilipdasji Maharaj blessed the Chief Minister for good governance and development.
