Gujarat CM appeals to implement positive and progressive ideas while conferring awards on Teachers Day

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel attended an award function today on Teachers Day to felicitate teachers and principals for their exceptional works, in the presence of Gujarat Governor Shri O. P. Kohli ji, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar and congratulated them for their role in shaping the future of the nation.

On this occasion, she stated that honouring teachers for their valuable contribution is a matter of pride for the state and congratulate the three teachers for their excellent presentation on crucial and complicated subjects like thalassemia, inorganic chemistry and economics. She said that this shows how beautifully our teachers are working even outside the classrooms and reflects their commitment towards society. She stated that the Education Department should search such teachers and should share their exemplary works with others to expand the scale of knowledge. She went on to say that the prevailing scenario can only be changed by implementing fresh ideas of committed and experienced teachers. She proudly informed that this year, such award functions are organized at district level also.

CM Smt Patel stressed the need for teachers to engage their students in extracurricular activities to make them active and help them grow in other fields. She said that any activity that brings out the hidden talent of student should be welcomed. She also said that students should be motivated to take part in such activities that helps develop their creativity and help in life.

CM Smt Patel said that big ideas are of little importance without effective implementation. Making a remark on the lower standard of education in some schools, she said that the government aims to provide schools all the necessary support, but the teachers and principals are required to be more sincere about their work. She shared that positive, progressive and practical efforts ensure good results. She also informed about ‘School Adopion’ scheme of the government to improve results and provide quality education in the government schools with poor results below 30%. She shared that the state government is concentrating on C and D grade schools and during the next ‘Gunotsav’, these schools will be evaluated and the responsible teachers will be punished for their poor performance.

CM Smt Patel shared that our honourable Governor himself is a professor and though on such a high position, he teaches English to the children of Raj Bhavan staff. CM Smt Patel happily said that coincidently Janmashtami and Teachers Day are on the same day and stated that like Krishna who enlightened Arjuna, teachers should also play the same role and teach our students the true meaning of life.

On this occasion, Education Minister Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, State Education Minister Smt Vasuben Trivedi, Deputy Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly Shri Atmaram Parmar, Gandhinagar Mayor Smt Hansaben Modi, Addl Chief Secretary Shri Sujit Gulati, President of Acharya Sangh Shri Pravinsinh Solanki, President of Gujarat Higher Secondary Teachers’ Union, Shri Rameshbhai Patel, President of Gujarat Primary Teachers Association Shri Digvijaysinh Jadeja, Officers of Education Department, Award winning teachers and principals and other dignitaries from educational field remained present.
