GOG spokesperson sternly criticizes Congress’s behavior in the House

Gujarat government spokesperson Finance Minister Nitin Patel has sternly criticized the opposition Congress for the continual shouting of slogans and the indiscipline of the party’s MLAs during question hour in the Assembly House today. “Instead of apologizing for the Congress’s indiscipline in the House, The Leader of Opposition has made political allegations against the government, which cannot withstand the test of truth”, Mr.Patel said.

As soon as the Chief Minister Narendra Modi took charge after the Assembly election he gave top priority to water management to tackle drought-like situation in the State. The Revenue Minister has made announcement of the drought-affected villages once the figuring out of classification value was over. The Congress leaders and the MLAs have gone against the established rules and traditions of the Assembly, just for the sake of making allegations, he said. “What is revealed from this is not their concern for the issue of water but their mentality of obstructing the Assembly proceedings for gaining petty political dividends”, said Mr.Patel.

As per the established traditions of the Assembly, such deliberations and the discussions are made only during the time allocated to the concerned party and with the mutual consensus, he said.

It is surprising and sad that opposition leaders don’t even have a general knowledge that such matters are first put before the Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee in the headship of the Speaker and then the discussion is held in the House accordingly, said Mr.Patel.

He said that from the beginning the Congress repeatedly tried to obstruct the proceedings of the House which amounts to an attack on the right of people’s representatives of learning about the actions taken for the solution of public issues. The uproar caused by the Congress, slaying the dignity and proud of the Assembly, has exposed the party’s culture.

The Opposition Leader has described the discussion on non-government matters like those related to Pakistan and Italy as a waste of time. Such statement of the Opposition Leader has confirmed the fact that Congress has never cared for the national security and interests, he said.

The nongovernment pledges are presented in the House both by the members of ruling and opposition party and discussions are held on it. The mentality of going against this established tradition and making political statements amounts to a blot on the dignity of the House and the Speaker, Mr.Patel added.

“Giving reaction on the ruling of the Assembly Speaker the Leader of Opposition has insulted the Assembly traditions, which is a condemnable act”, Mr.Patel said.

As per today’s agenda of Assembly proceedings, the Revenue Minister was going to make announcement about the drought-affected areas and districts. All the members including the opposition leader was aware of it. The people of Gujarat will never forgive this act which was done with the sole purpose of obstructing the Assembly proceedings, Mr.Patel said.
