Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel asks council of ministers, bureaucrats and stakeholders for qualitative improvement of primary education

9th June 2014 at Gandhinagar, With the beginning of the new academic year, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today called upon her council of ministers, bureaucrats and all stakeholders to ensure qualitative improvements of primary education in the state. She stressed on the need to sensitise officials about repaying their debts to the society. There is need to spread energy and whiff of satisfaction among the target groups.

Mrs. Patel was addressing the education department’s preparatory meeting for the 12th annual Kanya Kelavani and Shala Praveshotsav at the Swarnim Sankul to achieve enrolment of all school-going children, with stress on girls.

The twin campaign will be held in the state for rural areas from June 12 to 14, 2014 and in urban areas from June 19 to 21, 2014.

Mrs. Patel recalled that primary education was in a state of neglect, but the Shala Praveshotsav launched 11 years ago the mission brought about a social change. She said the government could provide the physical infrastructure, but it is for the administration, teachers, guardians and society to bring about the change. She asked the officials to maintain year-long live contacts with all the stakeholders, including women, retired teachers and prominent citizens, listen to their problems and find solution in coordination with departments concerned to achieve the goal.

For urban areas, the Chief Minister asked the education department officials to concentrate their efforts on children coming from the labour areas for school enrolment and spreading girls education.

Earlier, Minister of State for Primary Education Nanubhai Vanani and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Director Mukesh Kumar gave details of the twin campaign.

The meeting was attended by Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, Minister of State for Education Vasuben Trivedi, Chief Secretary Varesh Sinha, among others.

The meeting was telecast live through the medium of e-Governance to officials at the district level.
