Gandhinagar: Monday: Minister of State for energy Mr. Saurabh Patel said that the latest price hike in gas, diesel and cooking gas imposed by the UPA government will put a burden of Rs.500-crore on the state government. It will also adversely affect the state government projects, he said.

Minister of State said that the excessive hike imposed by the Congress-ruled UPA government has made the life of the people miserable. Not only the government has utterly failed in checking the price rise, it has on the country, added a huge load on the states, he said.

Mr. Patel said the state government has not levied any tax on LPG gas and kerosene. The central government has recently cut down the Gujarat's kerosene quota by 33%, which has invoked the anger of poor people as the quota was meant for the ration-card holding BPL families. And now, they have imposed a strenuous load in terms of fuel prices, he said.

At the time when Gujarat is rapidly developing with the various projects going on across the state, the hike in fuel prices will adversely affect these projects as it will put a great burden upon them, Minister of State said.
