Guj CM appeals to become Smart Citizens while dedicating development works at Vadodara

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel today inaugurated development works of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation that includes Harinagar flyover on Gotri road. She also inaugurated a new primary health center at Gajrawadi and others.

Addressing a large gathering, CM Smt Patel said that Vadodara, the cultural capital of Gujarat, is well-known for Garba and people from across the world come here during Navratri.

Talking about the rapid urbanization in the state, CM Smt Patel stated that the state government is focused to the emergent needs of urbanization. She went on to say that effective long term planning and implementation is carried out for better urban infrastructure and beautification of our cities. She assured the citizens of Vadodara that riverfront will be shortly developed on River Vishwamitri along the lines of Sabarmati Riverfront. She further stated that slum dwellers affected by the development projects are successfully relocated with better facilities. She shared that the state government allocates grants to urban civic bodies to meet with the increasing urban development requirements.

CM Smt Patel mentioned about the 6 cities of the state which are in the list of 100 Smart Cities announced by PM Shri Narendra Modi and told that now becoming Smart Citizens, in terms of civic sense, is the need of the hour. She also declared that Gandhinagar will soon become a fully WiFi city.

CM Smt Patel proudly shared that Vadodara and Surat have successfully achieved the target of 100% household toilets and told that it is a matter of great satisfaction that most Municipalities and Municipal Corporations of the state have completed 95% work. She said that even at rural level, 3088 villages have completed the work of 100% household toilets. She reaffirmed that no house in the state will be without in-house toilet facility within next two years. Referring to the much appreciated ‘Clean India’ movement of Shri Narendar Modi, she stated that cleanliness and hygiene are co-related with public health. CM Smt Patel gave a glimpse of statewide free health screening campaign for various diseases with a special focus on women and children.

CM Smt Patel took this opportunity to talk about the much discussed ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana’ and clarified that this is a long term scheme and not a short term package covering education, skill development and employment for the youth of Gujarat. She also highlighted the scenario of medical and engineering education and stated that it is a myth that students don’t get admission in the medical or engineering, while the reality is that the seats are going vacant.

CM Smt Patel heartily appealed to medical students to serve in rural areas for minimum two years after becoming doctor. She illustrated the condition of village people suffering due to unavailability of qualified doctors. She requested all the professionals to develop humanity into themselves. While congratulating the students of MS University for their outstanding performance, she appreciated some students who spare time to teach Maths and Science to poor students. She stressed upon the importance of Science education in the era of Science and Technology.

On this occasion, Sama Sports Complex was given the name of APJ Abdul Kalam and Manjalpur Sports Complex was given the name of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, by the CM Smt Patel.

CM Smt Patel also took an opportunity to visit some popular Garbas venues later during her visit to the city.

Finance Minister Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, MP Smt Ranjanben Bhatt, Vadodara Mayor Shri Bharatbhai Shah, MLAs, Collector, Municipal Commissioner, BJP office bearers, other dignitaries and people in large number remained present on this occasion.
