Gujarat CM inaugurates Book Fair and dedicates development works worth 160 crore in Surat

Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel inaugurated Swami Vivekanand National Book Fair ‘Vidya-2016’ and dedicated development works worth Rs 160 crore in Surat, today.

Talking about inculcating reading habits among children CM Smt Patel mentioned ‘Children should be encouraged to read books at an early age. She said parents should be cautious about what their children are reading and what kind of books and magazine they are bringing home for consumption. She urged Surat administration to organize an exhibition on the ideals and books of our constitution along with book fair in future through which the awareness about the constitution can be spread better.

Addressing people CM shared an excerpt from Swami Vivekanand’s book that brought out the difference between the ideology of the West and the East. While people in the West were trying to find an answer to the question- how can a person obtain maximum; people in India focus on how can a person live with bare minimum means.

Talking about the benefits of Herbal and Ayurvedic medicines she mentioned many diseases get cured completely through herbal treatment. CM visited National Horticulture Herbal Fair, Flower Show – ‘Suman 2016’ and Shilp Gram Fair – 2016. Organization of fairs such these provide a platform to agriculturists and sculptors to showcase their talent and become a source of additional income.

CM Smt Patel dedicated various developmental works along with over-bridge at Savji Korat junction constructed as part of the Surat BRTS Phase II costing 80 crore. CM urged people to use public transportation and adhere to traffic rules to decrease commotion. After completion of initial stages of Surat BRTS Phase I, corridor between Adajan Patiya & Jahangirpura has been declared open for public today.

CM mentioned state government is using technology to simplify procedures and ease people lives. Talking about Smart City she stated state government has already submitted the plan and is hoping maximum cities from Gujarat get shortlisted for the project.
