Gujarat CM Presides over the 11th Meeting of the State Board for Wildlife

In the 11th meeting of the state board for wildlife, Guj CM Smt. Anandiben Patel instructed officials to prioritize the conservation of flora and fauna living in forest areas as well as the happiness of the villagers living in those areas and increasing basic infrastructural facilities.

In this regard, CM Smt. Patel said that the forest department should ensure provision of adequate water and fodder for the animals and birds living in forests. She also stated that the forest department should take up the responsibility of provision of education, health, drinking water, lined roads etc. to the deprived families living in forest colonies.

CM Smt. Patel suggested during the meeting that admission camps should be organized in villages-areas for eklavya model schools, Adarsh Nivasi schools run by Tribal Department to ensure that the children of families living in forests get the benefits of education.

In this meeting, it was also decided that the authority for granting permissions for installing drinking water pipelines in forest areas would be now handed over to Chief Wildlife Warden to save time in the process. This proposal would be presented to both the state board as well as the national board for approval.

Talking about the population count of migratory birds, CM Smt. Patel guided relevant officials to expand the scope of population count of migratory birds to all water bodies of the state instead of restricting it to specific places-locations in the state. It was also suggested that an updated list consisting of the birds seen in these places be complied.

In this 11th meeting of State board for Wildlife, 6 works were given approval including construction of check dam in 1.68 hectare area of Balaram-Ambaji sanctuary located in Banaskantha, installation of drinking water pipeline as well as construction of a water treatment plant in Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary located in Kutch and installation of a 11 KV line parallel to Lakki-Nala road.

In the meeting, it was informed that due to various works like construction of check dams and installation of water pipelines, the water level in the nearby areas would rise, wild animals would get adequate water and citizens living in those areas will also get ample drinking water.

In addition to that, due to the installation of the electric line, BSF camp would get access to electricity.

In the meeting, CM Smt. Patel appealed forest department officials to right away implement the approved works and ensure that the work proceeds as per the timeline. She also instructed them to periodically review the progress made.
