Gujarat CM kicks off 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav

Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel kicked off 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav on 5th February, 2016. With an aim to inspire students of schools and colleges towards arts and theatre, Gujarat Sangeet Nataak Academy will showcase best plays selected through a state level competition.

She added to encourage Gujarati movies to find its deserving place state government has already announced new Film making policy and it is also keen on forming a policy to give a boost to theatre and drama. For the same, state government has also taken into consideration suggestions of prominent dramatists, writers, actors and directors.

18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav – jointly organized by Delhi National School of Drama and Gujarat Vidhya Sabha Lalit Kendra has started from 5th February and will continue for a week.

In this Mahotsav, international plays of Australia, America, SriLanka and Indian plays from Assam, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will be performed. Events like this establish a feeling of mutual reciprocity between states and unity in diversity. For the first time, Bharat Rang Mahotsav is organized outside Delhi in Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Orissa and more people will be able to witness these plays.

CM mentioned events like this will inspire Gujarati artists to come up with best creation in drama and plays.

Besides, Shri Dinesh Khanna of National School of Drama shared the purpose of the festival and Mumbai’s critic Shri Utpal Bhayani had addressed the gathering.

CM also witnessed international play from Australia ‘Stories I want to tell you in person’ on the occasion.
