Guj CM fulfils the dream of self-sufficiency of the poor at Garib Kalyan Mela organized at Dang

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel today visited Dang to be a part of ongoing Garib Kalyan Mela, an annual drive of the state government this morning and handed over kits and cheques to about 2000 beneficiaries.

On this occasion, CM Smt Patel shared that by now, the state government has distributed assistance worth Rs. 12,000 crore for the welfare of about 81 lakh poor people through such Garib Kalyan Melas in last 8 years. She expressed her confidence in the poor people by saying that these people do have competence and enthusiasm to work hard, all we need is to infuse confidence and hope by putting tools of economic development in their hands. She added that through such programs, the state government helps the poor fulfilling their dream of economic self-sufficiency by starting their own small venture. She also asserted that with such Garib Kalyan Melas, the role of the middle man has been eliminated and assistance is distributed directly to the beneficiaries in transparent manner.

CM Smt Patel announced about the succession rights of the leased lands to about 73,000 tribal farmers. With this announcement, such tribal farmers will also be able to get benefits of all the government schemes and become eligible to apply for loans from the banks. She also shared that the state government has also started giving revenue status to tribal villages.

CM Smt Patel also lashed out at the Congress for troubling people coming to participate in this program. CM said that this shows that they are not concerned about the welfare of the poor.

Talking about the free surgery of cleft lips under the health scheme of the state government, she expressed her happiness over such operation of a girl child and added that such children will be able to live a life with confidence and self-esteem. She also urged to take the benefits of various health schemes of the government. The state government has started taking measures to create disability free society. She also talked about fight against malnutrition.

MP Dr. K. C. Patel, President of District Panchayat Smt. Bibiben Chaudhary, District BJP President Shri Baburao Chaurya, President of Taluka Panchayat, Shri P. P. Swami of Prayosha Pratishthan, government officers and party officer bearers, social leaders, beneficiaries and others remained present on this occasion.
