While briefing to journalists, Gujarat's Tourism Minister Shri Jaynarayan Vyas today informed that the State Government has decided to develop eight tourism-hubs for an all-round growth of tourism sector in Gujarat. The eight tourism-hubs includes Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad rural, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Junagadh, Jamnagar and Bhuj.

Shri Vyas said that the State Government would focus on Heritage-tourism, religious-tourism, and adventure-tourism and will use its 1600-km. wide sea coast to push up beach-tourism.

Shri Vyas pointed out that, more than 270 beaches in Gujarat and soothing atmosphere around them makes them a treat for nature-lovers. State Government has decided to arrange beach festival at some of the beaches every year to acquaint people about it.

Tourism Minister said that the State Government is going to develop 36 tourist destinations, suggested by SEPT, with the facilities like drinking water supply, roads, sanitation, gardens and sitting arrangement. He said that an international standard conference of bird-watchers is going to be arranged at Khijadiya sanctuary in Jamnagar district.

Shri Vyas said that the State Government is interested in putting State's architectural heritage like buildings, government offices, palaces and havelis in the eyes of the world. He said that Gujarat is having a rich cultural heritage. People here, enjoy variety of fairs and festivals. The State Government is arranging festivals like Vibrant Navaratri and International kite festival, Rann Mahotsav etc. to attract tourists from all over the globe.

He said that the State is also interested in developing places associated with Buddhism. A seminar for the same was arranged in January 2010.

Shri Vyas said that to furnish the tourism sector with skilled manpower, Government has tied up with training institutions like Ahmedabad Management Association and Institute of Hotel Management. The State Government has decided to orgranise a B2B travel mart in December-2010 in order to acquaint national and international travel agents and tour operators with the various tourism products of Gujarat.

He said that the website of tourism department has prepared as per international standards and contains photographs, videos and information on tourist destinations. The website has received ‘Web-Ratna-2009' award from Information and Broadcasting Minster, Government of India.

Tourism Minister said that the State Government has set up tourist information centers in all districts to facilitate the tourist with required information and in booking of tickets etc. Government has appointed Shri Amitabh Bachchan to effectively promote the tourism places of Gujarat and an ad film has been shot on the locations of Kutch, Somnath and Sasangir. As the State is growing rapidly in medical sector, there is good chance for the development of medical tourism in the State. Government's efforts in tourism sector will generate many new employment opportunities, exuding faith he said.
