“UjjwalaYojana Will Eliminate Women’s Drudgery”, Says Guj CM at the Regional Launch of Pmuy at Dahod

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel attended a regional level inaugural function of the2nd Phase of Pradhan Mantri UjjwalaYojana (PMUY) at Kharod in the tribal dominated Dahod district in the presence of BJP President Shri Amitbhai Shah, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajasthan CM SmtVasundharaRaje and Madhya Pradesh CM Shri ShivrajSinghChouhan.

Speaking on this occasion, CM Smt Patel stated that the availability of clean and smoke free cooking fuel is a major challenge for rural household and shared that the PMUY scheme aims to provide free LPG connections to about five crore families living below poverty line across the country over the next three years. Recalling her olden days, she spoke about a mother’s agony and sacrifices for her family. She went on to say that women had to confront the torment of smoke while cooking food using wood, cow-dung, etc.She expressed her satisfaction that this scheme will free women from the drudgery and provide dignity.

In Gujarat, there are 68 lakh active LPG and PNG connections. Out of remaining 42 lakh families, this scheme targets 30 lakh families coming from poorer section. She congratulated PM Shri Narendra Modi for this ambitious social welfare scheme that will reduce the health and environmental hazards as well as transform the life of crores of rural women.

CM Smt Patel thanked Shri Narendra Modi for giving approval for installation of gates over Narmada Dam in just 17 days of becoming Prime Minister. She shared that the ongoing task of installation of gates over the dam will be completed in March 2017 instead of September 2017, 8 months ahead of schedule targeted earlier. She said that speedy execution of crucial projects boosts the development of the country.

CM Smt Patel assured that BJP government at the center and in many state sare striving to raise the living standard of poorest of poor without any kind of discrimination. She appealed to working collectively and contribute their bit to strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi for the betterment of the nation.

On this occasion, Gujarat BJP President and Water Supply Minister Shri VijaybhaiRupani, Civil Supplies Minister Shri BhupendrasinhChudasma, State Ministers Shri PradeepsinhJadeja, Shri JaydrathsinhParmar, Shri Chhatrasinh Mori, Shri BachubhaiKhabad, Deputy Whip Shri R. C. Patel, MPs and MLAs of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, other invitees and dignitaries, beneficiaries and people in large number also remained present.
