Various development projects in Vadodara

On the evening of 14th February, 2014, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated various development projects in Vadodara, including the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel bus depot and the Manjalpur Sports Complex. The bus station, which is built on the PPP model, encapsulates the history of Vadodara by the depiction of photographs and paintings around its walls.

Shri Modi spoke about the growth and development model adopted by the Government of Gujarat by citing the revolutionary initiative of canal top solar power projects and their impact, and said, “Today the development of Gujarat is being discussed all over the world. Say you are from Gujarat and see the response.” He highlighted how a long term vision was significant towards bringing a change in the quality of life, and added that such focused efforts at rendering quality living was way beyond mere politics.

Underscoring the effective steps taken towards equipping the State’s economy, Shri Modi compared the scenario at the bus stands and the airports, and put forth how the Government had been focused at delivering effective infrastructural solutions. “The number of people in airports is lesser than bus stand. But see how the airports look and how bus stations look. We thought of building a bus station that can match a good airport also,” said Shri Modi, while adding that the bus station was built through the PPP model.

Speaking on the need to develop sports and enable the coming generations to excel in it, Shri Modi said, “Sports is essential for sportsmanship. Where there is sports there will be sportsmanship. Our kids have to be on the sports field. We want them to play and excel in sports.”
