CM handovers recruitment letters to newly appointed 3,176 staffers of ST

Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today proudly announced that Gujarat has created a sort of record by providing employment to 80,000 youths in a year’s time.

Mr. Rupani further stated that all the appointments were made purely on the merit basis. The candidates were appointed only after their clearance of sensor based driving test.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized in Ahmedabad to handover appointment letters to newly recruited total staff of 3176, which included 2620 appointed drivers and 556 administrative staffers.

The Chief Minister said that the state transport corporation is not a medium to earn profit but to provide transport services to the poor, common-man residing in rural and interior areas in the state. The state government is dutifully providing services even if it is making loss.

Criticizing the previous governments, he said that the previous government had shunned the recruitments as a result the unemployment was generated on a larger scale. But, the present government had provided employment opportunity to the youths through creation of recruitment calendar with man-power planning.

The state transport minister Mr. Vallabhbhai Kakadiya said that the ST Corporation with its fleet strength of 7,000 buses and 45,000 strong employee force is providing transport services to the common-man living at the fag-end of the state.

He said that the ST Corporation had added 1600 new buses to its fleet last year and going to add another 3,200 new buses in the coming year.

Others who spoke on the occasion included, Mrs. Sonal Mishra, vice-chairman and administrative administrator of the ST and general manager (Operation) Mr. S.K.Prajapati.

Those who attended the function included, women and child welfare minister Dr. Nirmalaben Waghwani, MP Dr. Kiritbhai Solanki, MLAs – Mr. Arvindbhai Patel, Mr. Bhushanbhai Bhatt, Mr. Sureshbhai Patel, Mr. Kishorebhai, city mayor Mr. Gautam Shah, principal secretary, state transport department Mr. Vipul Mitra, and others.
