Gujarat CM’s visit to China-Hong Kong will open up new horizons of bilateral ties

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel will be on a seven-day visit to China and Hong Kong, beginning on May 14, 2015. She will be accompanied by over 25 prominent industrialists and a team of Government officials in this visit, that will cover Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzen and Hong Kong. This will be CM Smt Patel’s maiden international trip after becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

CM Smt Patel, along with her delegation, will meet high profile Chinese Government Officials, Investors and Trade Associations, industry leaders in an effort to strengthen economic and cultural bilateral ties between Gujarat and China. During the visit, several MOUs are expected to be signed between Government of Gujarat, Gujarat based industries and their Chinese counterparts.

CM Smt Patel’s focus will be to foster collaboration in sectors of Manufacturing, Engineering, Textiles, MSMEs, Financial Services, Technology, Renewable Energy, Skill Development and Construction. Important projects of Gujarat, such as GIFT City, Dholera, Dahej, Gujarat as Auto and Ports Hub, Smart cities, Statue of Unity and DREAM City will also be showcased.

The focus in Beijing will be to develop bilateral government ties, in Guangzhou the focus will be on Manufacturing, in Shenzhen it will be on Financial services and in Hong Kong on Investment, Infrastructure and Urban Development.

Last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping became the first Chinese President to visit Gujarat where he was received by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and CM Smt Patel. Three bilateral agreements were signed during this visit, including Sister-State Province Agreement between Guangdong Province and Gujarat State, Sister-City Agreement between Guangzhou City and Ahmedabad and setting up of Industrial Parks in Gujarat. CM Smt Patel’s visit will further shape the implementation of these MOUs.

CM Smt Patel’s visit to China will include her visit to Skill-development City in Beijing and Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Guangzhou.
