Gandhinagar: Wednesday: A Mega-Convention of Non Resident Gujaratis and Non Resident Indians is held on 30th April at Ahmedabad to celebrate Golden Jubilee of the State formation. Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi will present Swarnim-Kalash or Golden Urn to Non Resident Gujaratis coming from 22 States of India and from about 11 countries to participate in Swarnim-Jyanti celebration and will appeal them to celebrate Golden Jubilee of the State in their respected States and countries. Gujarat's Governor HE Dr.Smt.Kamala and Speaker of Gujarat Legislative Assembly Shri Ashok Bhatt will be present on the occasion.

A special meet with the NRG and NRI leaders has been arranged on 30th April, 4:00 P.M, at JMDC hall, Ahmedabad. State's Minister of NRI-NRG division Shri Jaynarayanbhai Vyas, Chairman of Swarnim Gujarat Celebration Committee Shri I.K.Jadeja, Principal Chief Secretary Shri P.N.Roychaudhary and Director General of Swarnim Gujarat Celebration Committee Shri D.K.Rao will talk with the NRG/NRI leaders and guide them on conducting Swarnim Gujarat celebrations in their respected regions of living and on the ways to improvise the pride of Gujarat.

Postal Department has come up with special Post Card and Postal Cover to commemorate the Swarnim-Jyanti celebration. The same will be launched on 30th April at University Convention Hall, Ahmedabad.

NRIs from Canada, UAE, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Behrin, Mauritius, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Ceria-Damascus and UK will come to participate in the convention. NRGs from the States like Tamilnadu, Andhrapradesh, Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Panjab, Hariyana, Himachalpradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Madhypradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarpradesh, Pondichery and Andaman-Nikobar are also coming to participate. All these Gujaratis will bring with them sacred soil and water of holy rivers of their lands. Earlier, about 14 teams headed by the members of cabinet of Gujarat State, visited different States of India and invited the Gujarati people living there for the celebration.

A cultural programme – ‘Saptrangi Gujarat' covering the themes like 1857-revolt, 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam, Self-Governance, Sardar, Gandhiji, Kriplani, Narmad, courage, Charan-Kanya and Sankalp will be arranged during the convention. The programme is intended to make people feel proud for being Gujarati.
